Safer Towing with Midland Towbars!
Welcome back again. Just want to give a couple of tips on Safer Towing. One of the most important things in towing safely is checking your trailer lights. We’re just going to have a quick look at that today.
Firstly we start with plugging in our trailer, caravan or float. Make sure that the coupling is correctly attached to the towball. Make sure your jockey wheel is up; and make sure you have a rated “D” shackle.
We’re going to move to the back of the trailer now and check our lights.
We’re going to just check the lights. Indicator. Other indicator.
Now, if you turn the park lights on, you should be able to see the park light. That test looks like a good test. So, everything’s correct.
Now, I just want you to keep watching. If it starts to do something funny (watch the trailer lights). If you see your lights go like that, that means you’ve got an earth shortage generally. Let me give you a couple of quick tips on how to fix that.
Come and have a quick close look. Generally, one of the quickest, easiest, cheapest ways to solve any earth shortage is checking the plug. Spraying some WD40 or some other lubricant in there; and then inserting the plug in and out can clear any debris. Another thing you can do is if you take a close look are our round WA plugs, these pins tend to open up and lose contact. When that happens, that’s when you have trouble with your lights. If you grab a little tiny screwdriver and you push them back closer together, it should fix this issue up. If it doesn’t, come and see us and we’ll fix it up for you.
