Want to know what the most clued-up shoppers ask before buying a roof rack?
Here are the questions we’re most often asked here at Midland Towbars:
1. Which roof rack will suit my vehicle?
There are oodles of roof racks out there, in all different shapes and sizes. Most of them are made to suit a variety of vehicles, however, the best way to make sure you choose the right one for car (& for your needs) is to get an expert on the case. Not only will they know all the quirks of the different models, they’ll also know how to install them properly once you’ve made a decision.
2. Will a removable roof rack damage my vehicle?
No – if they’re fitted properly. And, importantly, before fitting the rack, the roof MUST be clean. To keep your vehicle’s roof damage-free, take the rack off every 6 months or so and wash under the rubber pad before securing it again.
3. Will my vehicle’s roof rust if holes are drilled into it to fit a rack?
Drilling holes is necessary for track mount roof racks. You need to get someone who knows what they’re doing to mount these, because they’ll galvanise the holes and seal them properly to ensure rust does not occur. If you choose a track mount roof rack, check that the fitting comes with a warranty for peace of mind.
4. Am I going to get a leaky roof?
Once again, this is all about the installation. Get it done professionally and you and your passengers will stay nice a dry.
5. How long will it take to fit my roof rack?
Once you’ve chosen a model, it takes up to an hour and a half to fit. Whether you need your vehicle for work or the school run, we know that our customers can’t afford to have their car out of action for long. Use an expert like Midland Towbars, and your roof rack will be fitted as fast as poss.
